Chef’s Parcel App Privacy

This notice covers the Chef’s Parcel mobile app. Purchases and newsletter signups on our Shopify website are covered by our website privacy policy.

Information on your device

The app stores cooking preferences, saved recipes, onboarding choices, and a randomly generated chat session identifier on your device. The session identifier is not based on your email or advertising identifier. Device backups may also contain local app data. No account is required to browse the app’s recipes.

Ask Chef and service providers

Ask Chef is optional and uses third-party AI. With your permission, messages, recipe context, and conversation history are processed by our server hosted on Railway and sent to Anthropic (Claude) to generate a response. A search query derived from your message may be sent to Voyage AI to create a search vector. Pinecone receives that vector and search filters to retrieve recipe information; the application does not send the raw conversation to Pinecone. Information you type, including any personal information you choose to include, may therefore be processed by these providers. Please avoid sensitive personal information.

Chat storage and deletion

Our current server holds conversation history in process memory, indexed by the random session identifier. There is no chat database or disk-based chat archive in the application code. History is limited in length, but there is currently no automatic expiry period. Server history is cleared when the process restarts, or when a Start Over deletion request succeeds. Start Over clears the conversation in your app, changes the session identifier, and attempts to clear the old server session; an offline or failed request may not delete that server copy. This does not delete records retained separately by our providers.

Provider retention and technical records

Provider retention and handling depend on their terms and our service configuration; we do not promise zero retention or that resetting the app deletes provider records. Hosting services can process technical information such as IP addresses, request times, paths, and error records to operate and secure the service. The server application does not intentionally log chat message content.

Analytics, support, and shopping

We do not use Ask Chef conversations as advertising profiles or publish them as a social feed. The current release has no active in-app analytics exporter or configured Sentry crash reporting. Apple may provide TestFlight diagnostics and feedback under its own settings and policies. If you email support or submit an optional website form, the information you provide is used to respond and administer that service. Shop links open the website and include campaign labels identifying the app and link placement, not your chat session or message text.

Your choices and contact

You can decline Ask Chef data sharing and continue browsing recipes. Stop using Ask Chef to avoid sending further messages. Start Over resets the conversation as described above. Removing the app removes its local data subject to device and backup behavior. To request access, correction, or deletion of information we hold, or ask about privacy, email support@thechefsparcel.com. Requests are handled subject to applicable law and records we can identify. Do not email sensitive chat content unnecessarily.

We will update this notice when data practices change. Service providers may process information outside your country. This app is for cooking guidance, not medical advice.
